I love this, and hope to help spread the word on this discovery with a reblog. Good for the Gassetts and Brad!!! Yea!
OK Let's see how this works! Brad Andersohn discovered that you can use gmail as a blog editor.I noticed on his post the images did not load in my Safari browser or my Firefox browser. So I am going to experiment here a little and see if our images show up in Active Rain's WYSIWYG's editor.I am in Google gmail in my account and I am using Safari as my browser right now.Why would you want to use Google gmail as a blog editor
- If you want to blog quickly- it is right at your fingertips if you use gmail for email. (Which you should be using anyways)
- If you want to keep a record you can make an easy folder and label for your blog content.
- If you want to use a part of an email conversation and turn it into a post- it is right there, no need to move around tabs.
- If you want to add just a touch of color and don't want to draft a whole post in Kompozer or do html just for that. The best reason that I can think of is that if you are on the go- you can write a post right from the road in real time. You don't need to write down your post and then wait until you get back to your computer to publish your post. You can blog right from your iPhone or Smartphone. When a post idea crosses your mind while you are in the movie theatre or a restaurant- just excuse yourself to the restroom and write your post! You can add all the little happy faces and such:You can add text links right in your gmail email. It is just like writing an email to a friend but instead you are going to copy and paste it all into your Active Rain blog. This is pretty cool!Let's see if the font styles can change here also. This would be Comic Sans font. See if that is what you see. Now, let's see if we can add an image here- this is a photo of Loreena and her son. This image was loaded from my computer files.
I was not able to see Brad's images but I did see his image box with a question mark inside of it. Let's see who can see my image here and who can not. Also, please list which browser you are using so we can see what is working and what is not.So here I will add the same image again but this time I will add it from photobucket with a direct link to the photo. This will give the photo a destination url and not my computer. Sometimes this is the issue. Like in Kompozer you have to upload your photos from online destinations such as photobucket or flickr.
Of course, if you say you use IE you will hear from me! If you are online doing blogging, commenting, surfing and internet marketing you should be using Firefox or Safari as your browser. You can then send the post to yourself as an email. Then just Buzz it! Add the title to the post in your subject line. That way you can also search easily in my favorite google gmail tool- the search mail tool. Then add a label to the email you get in your inbox and file it under the right folder for easy organization and back up of your post. This is also great because the email is time stamped so if someone plagiarizes you and violates your copyright- well, you have proof you wrote the content first!
